Principal for the Day: Joey & Charlie Take Charge!

What happens when two students step into the shoes of the principal? A day filled with excitement, responsibility, and a few creative ideas for how to make school even more fun!

Recently, our school gave two lucky students—Joey and Charlie—the chance to be Principal for the Day. They shadowed our real principal, made announcements, helped with classroom visits, and got a taste of what it’s like to lead a school.

When asked how she felt when she found out she’d be principal for the day, Joey shared, “I was happy and excited, but nervous.” A perfectly natural mix of emotions when you’re suddenly in charge of a whole building!

Charlie reflected on the role of a principal and shared some thoughtful insight:
Keeping everything going and consistent and having the day keep running. If you get to a roadblock, keep going throughout the day.
Sounds like she already understands the importance of calm leadership and flexibility—key skills for any principal!

We also asked what rule they’d create if given the chance. Charlie had a popular answer:
I would add more recess and more study hall time for middle school.
We’re pretty sure she’d have strong support for that idea!

And if Joey got to plan a school-wide event? She didn’t hold back with his big dreams:
A trip to a water park or Aruba!
We’re guessing the whole school would be packing their swimsuits in a heartbeat!

It was a fun and inspiring day seeing our students step into leadership roles, even if just for a short time. With future principals like Joey and Charlie, our school’s in great hands!
