Inspiring Visit from Steve Baskis: Overcoming Adversity with Courage and Purpose

Our middle school students had the incredible opportunity to hear from Steve Baskis, a U.S. Army veteran, adventurer, and motivational speaker whose life story is a powerful testament to resilience and faith.

Steve shared his journey of overcoming severe injuries sustained during military service, including the loss of his sight. Rather than allowing adversity to define him, he spoke about how it fueled his desire to live boldly, set ambitious goals, and inspire others. From climbing mountains and competing in endurance races to traveling the world, Steve showed our students what determination, gratitude, and a positive mindset can make possible.

His message encouraged our students to look at challenges not as roadblocks but as opportunities to grow—to lean on their gifts, their community, and their faith when life becomes difficult. The room was filled with thoughtful questions, meaningful conversation, and plenty of inspiration.

We are so grateful to Steve Baskis for sharing his time, his story, and his heart with our school community. His visit reminds us that God can bring strength out of struggle, and that every person has the ability to rise above hardship with courage and hope.

Thank you, Steve, for an unforgettable and uplifting experience!
