At Holy Cross, learning is about more than academics—it’s about nurturing the whole child. One of the most beloved ways we do that is through the gentle, calming presence of our therapy dogs, Sassy and Morgan, and their handlers, Paul and Sue.
Sassy has a special gift. With her wagging tail, patient eyes, and perfectly timed snuggles, she has a way of making students feel instantly at ease. Whether a student is feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or just in need of a quiet moment, Sassy is always ready to listen—no words required.
Paul and Sue play an equally important role in this special partnership. As Sassy’s and Morgan’s handlers, they ensure that each interaction is safe, meaningful, and supportive. Together, Paul, Sue, Sassy, and Morgan create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable taking a deep breath, regrouping, and returning to learning with confidence.
Throughout the school year, Sassy can often be found visiting classrooms, spending time with individual students, or offering comfort during particularly busy or stressful moments. From helping students manage big emotions to celebrating small victories, her presence brings a sense of calm and joy to our school community.
Morgan brings her own special strengths to our therapy dog team. Quieter and more reserved than Sassy, Morgan has a calm, gentle presence that many students are naturally drawn to. She is especially comforting for students who benefit from a peaceful, low-energy companion—offering silent support, steady companionship, and a reassuring presence simply by being near. From helping students manage big emotions to celebrating small victories, her presence brings a sense of calm and joy to our school community.
The impact of Sassy and Morgan goes far beyond smiles—though there are plenty of those! Their visits help build emotional resilience, encourage positive behavior, and remind our students that they are supported and cared for every single day.
We are incredibly grateful for the time, dedication, and love that Paul, Sue, Sassy, and Morgan share with Holy Cross. They are a true gift to our students and staff, and we are so thankful to have them as part of our school family.

Holy Cross Catholic School is part of the Green Bay Area Catholic Education (GRACE) School System. It is a private Catholic school serving Preschool and Elementary through 8th grade (PK3-8). The school has open enrollment and is located on the Northeast side of Green Bay near the Town of Scott and is near the Red Smith neighborhood and Wequiock Falls.
