Something “Spooky” Happened in the 4th Grade Classroom at Holy Cross Catholic School!

Holy Cross Catholic School fourth graders had a terrific time planning, designing, and wiring some “spooky houses” in October! The houses consisted of cardboard, electric circuit materials, and decorative materials from home.

They were the final project for an Electric Circuits unit, developed by the Einstein Project. Some of the requirements for the project were to have four rooms lit, series and parallel type circuits incorporated into the design, and to have fun and show creativity with the “spooky” theme, just in time for Halloween.

Always a popular unit with the students for its hands-on learning and scientific discovery, Mrs. Malone loves the unit because of its impact on their learning: “This is a marvelous Einstein unit that meets the needs of the 4th grade science curriculum through fun, well-developed lessons. It allows me to act as a facilitator — the lessons are set up in such a way that students, through individual exploration and cooperative work, take ownership and pride in their work. As a result, they truly learn and understand the content.”
